Here today sick and frail it was all i could do to not let him sail

away

in the wind

thin beyond thin

bone and fur was all he had been

for who knows how long

he came to me to survive

i tried

once i caught him for a hospital visit

but he bit me hard to the bone i feared

and my visit was for six shots all in the rear

so i fed him and kept him warm in winter

the best i could

now i fear he is gone

not come back for more

and so he is finally at home

with a hot meal and a good tale to tell

of life and hardship with a cat tale to sell
