listen and see
help me i'm lost to no one who heard
my mind full of noise like a large cattle herd
i reached out to touch some trees i could see
and what i felt was a warm gentle me
finally alone and lost without hope
i heard a small chime on little steel ropes
then without hesitation i moved straight ahead
and knew i was not dead.
the bells tolled for me small and uneven
they belonged on the chest of st. stephen
for us life is small quiet and bumpy
for us life is remembrances and all that was chummy
we see the cracks the stones and the holes
we know how to weave with the souls along poles and black coals.
