Richard Nixon @ 100 - "Who cares if the minimum wage is $1.25 or $1.50" - JFK / 1961

JFK said this, not Nixon!

Long time Nixon advisor Bruce Herschensohn spoke at length about some of the myths / lies / nonsense surrounding the Nixon legacy. For example, the "legend" that Nixon was far to the right of the political "mainstream".

One example, from a meeting he attended with Nixon:

Shortly after losing the presidential election to JFK in 1961, Nixon was invited to the White House to discuss some of the challenges JFK faced. Nixon emphasized that the President did not have nearly enough time to do "everything" himself. JFK agreed with Nixon that "foreign affairs" was the president's responsibilty and that "domestic affairs" needed to be left almost entirely to Congress.

Neither Nixon nor Kennedy was hostile or indifferent to the minimum wage, it just was not an issue that the President should be obsessing over.
