Glamour of LA / Sunset Strip - Whisky A Go Go

Center of the 1966 riots on Sunset Strip spurred by "overly aggressive enforcement" of curfew by the LA County Sheriff's office. Riots were subject of hit song "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield:

"There's battle lines being drawn

Nobody's right if everybody's wrong

Young people speaking their minds

Getting so much resistance from behind

What a field-day for the heat

A thousand people in the street

Singing songs and carrying signs

Mostly say, hooray for our side"

Hosted regular gigs by The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield (featuring Neil Young), Alice Cooper, Johnny Rivers, The Doors, Love, Them (featuring Van Morrison) and many other top rock acts.
