"And as we wind on down the road, our shadows taller than our souls" -- Bicycle Sunday in Mexico City

Bicycle Sunday -- every Sunday morning most of the lanes of Paseo de la Reforma are closed to everyone except bicycles and joggers. There is widespread participation. This picture was taken just after sunrise from my hotel room across from the Columbus Monument, just south of the Centro Historico.

There is also a naked bike ride (WNBR) on this street and through the Centro Historico to the Zocalo every June.

"And as we wind on down the road

Our shadows taller than our soul

There walks a lady we all know

Who shines white light and wants to show

How everything still turns to gold

And if you listen very hard

The tune will come to you at last

When all are one and one is all, yeah

To be a rock and not to roll"
