Gala de Homards - Lobster Gala

Last night we had a most interesting experience...Gala de Homards or Lobster Supper in the Grand Maître Arena in Vanier.

This Lobster Supper occurs each year in a local arena, staged by a local club Richelieu, a francophone service club similar to Rotary or Kiwanis.

My youngest son is in a school band that will be going out of town for a concert series. This club contributes to the school band in exchange for the volunteer efforts of the kids and parents. This lobster supper was an all you can eat event, where approximately 750 people are served chowder and then massive quantities of lobster, followed by cake and coffee. The experienced participants bring their own salads, cutlery, nut crackers and picks, and little tea candle holders that keep their garlic butter hot. There was much gaiety and cheer as many bottles of beers and wine were consumed.

We (the very cute kids and their parents) served and then cleaned up massive quantities of lobster shells.

Once the diners were enjoying their desert the kids put on a concert. What is most amazing is that these kids are in Grades 3 - 6.
