Fog as thick as pea soup?

We have been having very strange weather here in Ottawa. We had snow before Halloween and this past week has been so mild. On my way to work on Thursday morning it was the foggiest I have ever seen in Ottawa, you couldn't see the cross traffic and could just barely make out the traffic signals.

 

It took until mid-afternoon before you could see some of the buildings from my office window:
