Ram Kumar's pad
So this is a pretty cool story: We met this Aussie on Holi in Udaipur, totally by chance getting pulled in from the chaos into a guesthouse for some snacks and rest. He came in and we chatted briefly. He is exploring India by motorbike and one of the many things he mentioned was that he is headed to meet a friend at a potters village near Dharamshala. Many weeks later, we are in an envoy with friends and relatives to see a pottery village, when Julie remembers that passing conversation we had had with our friend. Digging up an old scrap of color stained paper with his email, we make last minure contact, and it turns out that he had JUST arrived, and that THAT DAY was his first night in a little overgrown house we had rented from a caretaker, on a little artsy land trust from the seventies. It is the home of Ram Kumar (www.itasveer.com/artsmart/articles/top-10-painters-of-ind...) a very famous painter (one of his houses) and it is charged with good vibes. Our friend, Strath, immediately got to work creating with abundant bamboo one of the most comfortable beds ive slept on in India. together we are fixing up some swank digs, right out in nestled in the himalayan foothills. Pretty sweet.
