Just 25 miles to the East before leaving Roodhouse, the crew had to swap around the engines after having problems with the EMDX 7237. Luckily for the crew, the train was only 12x27 after leaving Roodhouse, so the EMDX 7212 alone was sufficient for the steep grades of the river valleys.
