Severn Valley Railway steam loco 2857 leaves Bridgnorth on the SVR
Great Western Railway steam locomotive 2857 pulls away from Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway (SVR). The Swindon-built Churchward 2-8-0 heavy freight engine is hauling the first train of the day - the 10.25 a.m. service with Gresley carriages to Kidderminster on Tuesday September 16th 2014. The morning mist had just cleared and the temperature was still low enough to give a good display of steam as the loco climbed the gradient and approached the tunnel at Knowlesands about 200 yards further along the line. Out of shot to the right are chalet style homes, and the railway banking here has been planted with flowers and shrubs. At this time of the year, the industrial estate to the left is largely hidden by foliage.
