Tuesday 14th April 1987 and 45034 runs through Sheffield Station with a loaded ballast train. By this date the remaining Class 45 locomotives were approaching the end of their careers. 45034 was built by BR at Derby Works in August 1961 as D42. It was withdrawn only 3 months after this photograph was taken. it then got a short extension to its working life as it was soon reinstated for departmental use.
