Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly at Bury Bolton Street Station.

Saturday 16th September 1989 at Bury Bolton Street Station on The East Lancs Railway. One of the extra benefits of the UK’s many preserved railways is the well planned and maintained flower beds and gardens on the stations that provide excellent habitats for our garden birds and butterflies. Such habitat are being reduced elsewhere by the trend to provide easy maintenance gardens around people’s houses.
