Peckett 0-4-0ST 1555 built 1920 (1)

Sunday 13th September 2009 and the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway’s 140th Anniversary Gala. This Peckett 0-4-0ST dressed up as Ivor The Engine was in charge of the brake van rides. It is seen here puffing away as it climbs to Furness Sidings Station.

Note the very clean exhaust with steam and very little smoke being ejected from the chimney. On a a subsequent visit to the line I spoke to one of the drivers who said the clean exhaust was due to them using good quality Welsh coal which although more expensive burns much cleaner than most other coal.
