Channel Islands Ferry
When my wife and I visited Alderney there was a daily ferry to the island of Jersey which stopped at Alderney on Fridays and Sundays. We used this in both directions. I remember that the return ferry arrived late in Portsmouth which meant we could not catch a train back to London until the next day. We were lucky to get a room over a nearby pub for the night.
The Ferry Service was provided by a fast catamaran named Varangerfjord which had previously operated in the Norwegian Fjords. She was like a very big bus inside. I understand she did not last long on this service. Does anyone know where she is now?
This photo was taken on Sunday 2nd August 1998 and shows her in Alderney harbour while we waited for our luggage to be brought ashore.
