Peckett 0-4-0ST No 1 at Buckfastleigh
Early 1970s.I have no notes for this early 1970s photo but I think I have Identified the locomotive and location correctly, although the location could be Buckfastleigh 28.11.2016 - it is Buckfastleigh - see comments from churchward82 c below). If I'm correct it is a Peckett built 0-4-0ST of 1942 vintage (works number 2031). It was supplied new to Exeter Gas Works and worked there until 1969. Soon after that it moved to The Dart Valley Railway (now the South Devon Railway). It has been named Ashley in memory of Ashley Burgess who was the preserved railways first permanent way inspector. In this photo it carries a false Great Western Railway livery. It is currently out of service but on static display in the South Devon Railway’s museum at Buckfastleigh.
Can anyone confirm or correct my assumptions above?
