GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 6990 Witherslack Hall at Quorn.
6th December 1986. 6990 Witherslack Hall at Quorn on the Great Central Railway with a Santa Special. The line was still single track at this time.
I had the previous day bought my first SLR (a Chinon CP-7m) and this was the second railway photograph I took with that camera. By today's standards it was quite primitive with automatic exposure options but no automatic focus. It came with a variety of lenses but I tended just to use the 30-200mm zoom. It was difficult to load with film and I never could load a Fuji film in it. Its results were average (probably partly my fault) but were many times better than with the cameras I had used before.
