Sunday 29th June 2014 and Baldwin 4-6-2 No 2 is seen passing what passes for the coaling stage as it arrives at the line’s main station at Pant.
The Brecon Mountain Railway although only a 2’gauge line has been mostly constructed on the track bed of the standard gauge Brecon & Merthyr Railway and so enjoys a much larger loading gauge than many narrow gauge lines. Accordingly it is able accommodate much larger locomotives and rolling stock than many other lines of a similar gauge as is indicated by No 2 which is certainly larger than most other 2’gauge locomotives in the UK.
