Jordan Pond Morning

Early Morning on Jordan Pond.

The sun is just beginning to rise over a placid Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park on a beautiful cool morning. The fall colors are giving one last gasp of color before changing over for the season. At the far end of the pond the Bubbles can be seen overlooking the oligotrophic tarn. Oligotrophic tarn is the classification given to Jordan Pond due to its lack of nutrients for aquatic life, as well as its deep, crystal clear, waters. Jordan Pond is one of the iconic Acadia National Park views. The Bubbles have been photographed over and over again from this locale. It's not hard to see why this spot is so beloved in the park. The mountain peaks of Pemetic to the right, and Penobscot to the left, provide a natural frame to the North and South Bubbles at the head of the pond. Jordan Pond is a distinct feature in Acadia, and well worth photographing. The prior evening we hiked the Bubbles for sunset, and I can't wait to share those photos soon.

Thanks for looking and enjoy!
