Alexander, AR, looking southwest. No more than a mile or so down these tracks is the place where two local boys, Don Henry and Kevin Ives, were murdered, then carefully placed on the tracks, their bodies crushed by the first train that came along. The murder took place between the Alexander crossing and the next "major" crossing at Shobe Road, closest to the Shobe road crossing. A book by Arkansas investigative reporter, Mara Leveritt, does a good job of exploring the cover-up by the State Medical Examiner, who deemed the deaths accidental (one boy had been shot to death, the other killed by a blow to the head), prosecutorial misconduct, ties to drug trafficking, government corruption, and the unrelenting efforts of Linda Ives, Kevin's mother, to learn the truth. The crime is still unsolved, but unlikely to ever be forgotten by Arkansas residents.
