V9138 hem attached to wigan
Putting in the hem in the traditional tailoring manner. First steamed the hemline, then steamed the fullness of the hem.
Used 3" wide bias wigan instead of cutting canvas to fit. Permanent basted wigan to the hem line and then another row of permanent basting to garment. Catchstitched the wigan to the garment along the permanent basting line.
Once completed, used a catch-stitch to attach the hem to the wigan.
Even though the fabric frays badly, I still opened the back darts to lie flat.
The little cellophane tags are helping me identify the end threads from the basting lines just inside the back armhole in case I need to ease a bit for fitting.
