V8772 as dress - pinning flat felled seams - arm and side seam

1 of 10

I have a couple of flat felling presser feet, but I found I just like the way they turn out if I do them by hand. This photo is after trimming the side seam allowance (on the back) to 1/4 inch and then folding over the side seam allowance (on the front side) over the trimmed edge and pinning before basting. I usually do my flat felling on the inside of the garment, then stitch from the front - so I use basting along the edge as a guideline.

Vogue 8772 V8772

Llinen-rayon blend from Fabric Mart, pearl-shell buttons from Fashion Fabric Supply. Hug Snug washable rayon seam binding folded for hem.

Pattern Modifications: Eliminated the collar and just used the stand. Lengthened to above the knee dress length.

Used more traditional shirt construction techniques, catch stitched cuff edges along the fold line, flat felled seams – including armhole and shoulder for a clean finish on the inside.
