It should be said that the BOMARC was part of the reason that the fabulous Canadian Avro Arrow was cancelled. Prime Minister Diefenbaker wanted to end the expensive Arrow development project in order to divert the funds to farm subsidies. In some wheeling and dealing that many feel was less than above board, the Canadian government bought American BOMARC missiles and F-104 fighters instead of the Arrow.
STRANGE FOOTNOTE: All Arrow prototypes were ordered DESTROYED and no example of this highly advanced fighter exists, today.
