The Hand of Fatima

The Hand of Fatima or Hamsa is a popular protection against the evil eye in Morocco. It is also coincidentally a very decorative item.

I asked Laura whether she'd like to pose with her new earrings for some photos and I got a lot of shots I am very happy with. This is the first one I got around to edit.

Setup was a set of two Walimex pro VE-400 at the left and the right pointing at her both set to low power, with the one on the left a bit brighter. Background was just my ordinary white wall. Editing was first in darktable for croping, slight split toning and then mostly with GIMP as in the Open Source Portrait (Postprocessing), with some basic color curves at the end.

We tried out posing. Some posts worked out really well, some less well but we certainly learned a lot. It is surprisingly difficult to find useful posing tips in the Internet, mostly trial and error.
