Blythe-a-Day August#9. No More Tears&#30. The Fabric of Your Life: Donna&Barkley

Donna: "I had such an awful day at school. As soon as my English class started, I realized I had left my homework in my bedroom. Then, in my Algebra class, when the teacher called on me, my answers were wrong. I was so relieved when the school day was over and I could come back home. But when I was getting off the bus, I tripped and fell on the last step so the driver had to get off the bus to see if I was okay. I could see kids inside looking out the window at me. I just felt like crying--not from being hurt but from embarrassment."

"Walking home, I was so miserable. Yet, when I opened the door, there was Barkley, wagging his tale and looking so happy that everything I had been sad about seemed so silly that I had to laugh. I kissed him on his head. He always makes things better. I bet most people feel that way about their pets--that's why they become part of 'the fabric of our lives,' to borrow the words of a jingle."
