San Francisco, CA - "End 40" - the western end of U.S. 40 - June 5, 2004
After crossing the Bay Bridge, those traveling westbound on Highway U.S. 40 would come to the end of the route (along with U.S. 50 as well) at the corner of 10th & Harrison Streets in San Francisco. There was once a sign announcing the ends of these transcontinental highways right about where the gray building is on the right side of the picture.
