Forgotten Stretch - U.S. 40, Rocklin, CA - March 20, 2021
Looking west from the sidewalk on Sunset Blvd, one can see this abandoned stretch of U.S. 40, left behind presumably in the early 1960's as the highway (now Pacific Street) was realigned (can be seen in upper left) to accommodate the intersection with the newly constructed Sunset Blvd. Sunset itself sloped down due to being elevated to cross the railroad tracks (barely visible at the right alongside the tanks).
