Former Highway 66 "Cadiz-Summit Roadside Rest Area" between Danby & Essex, California - June 15, 2009

 

This was one of 3 roadside rest areas in the desert between Barstow and Needles, built by San Bernardino County in 1958. This location, as with the other 2, once sported covered picnic tables and outhouses.

 

Today there is a historical marker onsite.
