Old 4-lane stretch of Route 66 east of Amarillo, TX (view is looking northwest) - it joins up with Amarillo Blvd/US 60 in the distance where the water tower is - May 13, 1994

This stretch was open, but pretty much devoid of traffic when I visited, hence the ease in stopping the car to get out and take pictures.
