Old 4-lane stretch of Route 66 east of Amarillo, TX at the point where it joins up with Amarillo Blvd/US 60 - May 13, 1994
This scene is no longer possible as the "highway style" interchange has been removed and this stretch of 66 (now down to 2 lanes at this point) now ends at Amarillo Blvd with a simple "T" intersection with a stop sign. The "new" intersection is now east of the water tower, so if driving this stretch, one is no longer driving straight towards the water tower. I suppose due to the lack of traffic out there, the highway department probably no longer wanted to maintain the more "complex" interchange.
