Neat Ideas Fair
Date: 12/01/2009
A motorized backpack/seat. A computer program helping passengers navigate airports. A method for breaking down plastic in landfills. A process for producing maggots for medical use. These are just a few of the many entries headed for the sixth annual Silicon Valley Neat Ideas Fair, to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in the Student Union Barrett Ballroom. The Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship, part of San José State's College of Business, sponsors the event.
The competition promotes creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging students to conceptualize and present innovative business ideas. More than 40 industry experts, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, academics and corporate executives from Intel, HP, Cisco, Applied Materials and Bank of America will evaluate exhibits and provide feedback. The best exhibit, best elevator pitch, best executive summary, and most socially innovative entries will win cash and in-kind prizes.
