Cooper's Hawk by Jackie B. Elmore 11-15-2015 Lincoln Co. KY

This juvenile was photographed as it sat upon its favorite perch this morning. In this image, the hawk's nictitating membrane or "third eyelid", is clearly visible. Every few seconds, the nictitating membrane swipes across the eye to moisten and lubricate it.
