2013 Pet Expo
by furtech
I made it back to the Pet Expo this year. For some reason, attendence (booths and crowds) was way down. On Friday it was a ghost town and I heard that few dogs got adopted out.
Saturday was much better, though still down from previous years. Not sure of the reason. The economy is doing better and the crowds were bigger when the economy was worse.
We adopted out four dogs this year, including a puppy that was a spazzy love-bug. He was adopted by a disc-dog person so he got a PERFECT home!
Rescue-wise, there were a ton of pit-mixes and chihuahuas (mixes and other yap-dogs). Two new breeds I saw: Japenese Ken (size-wise bigger than a Shiba and smaller than an Akita, but far more out-going) and a new designer breed called a Ambullneo, which is a mix of American Staff, bull mastif and Neopolitan mastiff. Loved the Ken; not so keen on the latter. I also got to see a silken windhound: they look like they've walked right out of a James Gurney painting.
