FurFright 2011: Shenandoah Valley

by furtech

My flight back to L.A. was in the evening, so Tracy, her daughter Sam, dog Cody and I had a day to check out a wonderful place: Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Fall Colors are still muted here...in fact, some of the trees have already lost their leaves. Still, a beautiful area.

We parked at the top of a rise next to a large meadow. There were many blueberry bushes and milkweed plants-- whose pods the Sam found delightful. Cody enjoyed the change of scenery and did much important sniffing.

Back at home, Tracy showed me the red chanterelles in her yard. Then it was time for the airport. We stopped at something called "Harris Teeter" and I got food for the plane trip. Harris Teeter is kind of a Gelsons/Pavillions upscale market (more Pavillions than Gelsons, tho'.).

Plane trip was long but uneventful. Arrived after midnight and drove home. I was exhausted-- it was like arriving at 4am. Still, I had a great time and was happy to be home.
