FurFright: The Trip Home
by furtech
We left the hotel early Monday morning after deciding not to re-visit the apple farm. Both of us still had plenty of apples and the allowed us to take a leisurly trip back to VA.
Our first stop (in just the next town) was a breakfast-lunch joint called O'Roukes. Classic-looking diner with an amazing menu. Thanks a bunch to Spotwield *again* for steering us to another keeper.
I knew this place was filled with TLC when my ice tea was served with frozen-ice-tea-cubes. I'd never had that before and it was marvelous! Best ice tea I'd had in a long time! Little details like this show me why this place is always busy! Fortunately, we arrived at an off-hour and got seated in just a few minutes. I've posted pages from their menu so that you can see how varied and interesting the food selections are: the lamb sausage is to die for and I wish I could have tried the "fried oatmeal". The bananas foster french toast was heavenly...though I -really- need to be a better foodie and remember to take the picture -before- I've nearly destroyed it. Incredible meal. Great start to the trip home!
The drive was otherwise uneventful: the weather on the return was a complete turnaround from the trip up: crisp, cool, clear. Lots of toll roads. And the "rest stops" are fascinating: large numbers of food and supply places, including (unfortunately) a Cinnabon at nearly every stop. Iron will!
Just north of VA we stopped in a town called, "Havre de Grace". Seaside-touristy-village, it was nice. Tracy found the restaurant she'd been to once and never found again...but it was closed. We eventually ate at a nice place right on the water. Food was seriously decent.
A few more miles and we finally arrived back at Casa Tracy.
