I've been curious: a lot of the locals are dressed traditionally. My wonderment is: do they dress this way because it's the way you dress here, or are they encouraged to dress this way by the town/tourist board? In Japan, for example, there are still some areas where kimonos are still worn as every day dress. However, in the bigger cities, it's more rare to see them worn by every-day people. Is that how it is here?
