Higginsville, Missouri
Despite it being geographically closer to home than any other part of the KCS, the Gateway is probably the part of the railroad that I covered the least, with exception to the far south end going toward Mexico. With seemingly nothing of value going on in Kansas City and clouds expected to move in from the west during afternoon hours, the easy decision was made to chase this eastbound GHVJV15 after seeing the remarkably clean (for KCS standards) power on the point. This elevator at Higginsville, Missouri is one of many composition possibilities on this very scenic line which stretches from Kansas City to Roodhouse, Illinois, where this train will take a left hand turn to load at Bartlett Grain's loop in Jacksonville.
