Pearl, Mississippi
Continuing with the eulogy for KCS, two sets of second generation EMD products are seen at the east end of High Oak Yard in Pearl, Mississippi as they begin their day's work on a very pleasant Spring morning. The 2817 on the right is shoving back onto the switching lead to get in the clear for the Crankin' Rankin which is finishing up air testing his train on the left. The Rankin is getting a somewhat late start to their day after having to block their train of hazmat tanks and high-cube auto parts boxcars for the various customers they serve around the Brandon area. Interestingly enough, the high cubes come from GM's distribution facility in Flint, Michigan and ride the CN the entire way to Jackson, where they are handed off to the KCS.
