Project 366_227_366
August 14 - 227/366
I took my daughter to the DDS this morning. I thought it was a pediatric dentist. At least that is what was told to me via the insurance representative. Once I got there I found out it was a family practice. If I had known that I would have taken her to our regular DDS. It was confirmed with a bite wing that the source of infection causing her swelling and fever was a cavity. The tooth will either have to be pulled or have a child's version of a root canal. The root canal would only be a temp fix & infection could return. Extraction would require a spacer because it is a molar and she is not due for her adult tooth to come in for another 2-3 yrs. The spacer would prevent the other teeth from growing together. This office doesn't sedate the patients. I can't imagine an 8 yr old sitting willingly w/just Novocain for either procedure. I requested a referral for a 2nd opinion.
