Samarkand - Shahr-I-Zindah

One of the most impressive monuments in Samarkand, a short distance from the BibI Khanym mosque, Shahr i Zindah is a magnificent avenue of marvelous mausoleums, an outstanding center of Moslem architecture and decorative art. The oldest tomb is believed to be that of Qusam Ibn Abbas, a cousin of Mohammad. Most of the other structures were built during the 15th century.
