Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon is considered to be the "Grand Canyon" of Kazakhstan. The place has two attractions in one -- first the magnificent sandstone formation in a dry canyon, then the Charyn river itself flowing in a separate canyon, allowing for vegetation to grow, in stark contrast to the desert scenery all around.
