It’s always exciting when owl nesting season gets underway. This great horned owl produced two owlets recently and word spreads fast which draws a lot of photographic attention. It was late afternoon and she was waiting for the mate to return with food and surely wanted to stretch her legs and wings. Occasionally there was movement but only enough to reposition for the movement beneath from the owlets. After a couple hours I called it a day hoping to get back and see the owlets before their pin feathers grow in.
Another nature tidbit in my world an eastern black swallowtail butterfly that overwintered in its chrysalis emerged yesterday and will be released once it warms up this morning. Spring has sprung.
