Sleeping Beauty
This giant swallowtail butterfly is a true sleeping beauty it transformed from caterpillar into its chrysalis stage late last summer. It slept through 2 hurricanes and the brutal Florida winter a couple weeks ago (LOL) until this past Friday when a perfect butterfly eclosed. I released it and it happily explored nectar plants and hiding places for the first night of freedom. Florida butterfly season is underway.
