Tithonia

Tithonia aka Mexican Sunflower is a pollinator favorite of bees, butterflies, wasps, moths, etc etc. No two flowers on this plant are the same color when they first bloom sometimes they are a deep red others are orange-red after being in bloom a day or so or they are simply orange, they’re like a box of chocolates. They are actually a sunflower although not what most people would think of as a sunflower and are part of the daisy family. The plants grow approximately five feet high and are multi branched many will grow eight feet or higher. I was surprised how well the plants held up to the hours and days of wind when the storm who later became Debby after passing by this area, only one branch split from the stem.

Happy Monday on Sunday!
