Shady Oak

Approximately 15 years ago I walked this trail though the oak hammock for the first time and fell in love so to speak with the oak trees draped in moss and the light filtering through the canopy. Countless times I’ve attempted to translate through a photo how it made me feel and each time the images fell short of expectations. This is the first time I’ve come close to the emotion that’s evoked when I walk the Shady Oak and all it took was shooting vertical slices of the scene and stitching them together. I’ve known about this style of landscape photography for a long time but have never taken the time to put it to use because I suffer from narrow minded focus. If it wasn’t for Scott Kelby at KelbyOne getting me to slow down and rethink my approach to try something new it’s possible I would have never been satisfied, curiosity and continued learning is the key to success. Seeing what a first try looks like you can put money down that it won’t be the last.

Happy Monday!
