The owl and the fawn hammock friends

This is a document shot of two unlikely friends. As I walked through the hammock this pair took me by surprise. The fawn and its mom were laying down what caught my eye was this large bird going between a perch in a tree and the ground several times right next to the fawn. It wasn't threatening and neither deer really paid attention to it. I didn't have a camera (I KNOW!) and went to fetch one thinking that by the time I returned neither would still be there. Fortunately they were still there and that's when I realized the big bird was a barred owl. They posed nicely for the camera and even though the spanish moss and vines obstructed the view I'm happy for the memory and having proof of this unlikely friend encounter.
