Bobcat face to face
The story behind the photo: an anxious moment for this bobcat unfolded as a careless hiker pushed the bobcat down the trail towards us by aggressively pursuing it to get a photo with his little point and shoot camera. We got down low in efforts to diffuse its fear and the closer it got the more uncomfortable I felt after all this is a wild animal under stress. As it stood there it cried out lowly I felt so bad for it because escape route options were limited a canal was on the left and an alligator infested marsh was on the right. After what seemed like an eternity the bobcat chose to exit into the marsh. As soon as it disappeared the man made an about face and also disappeared into the opposite direction. The feelings of this experience has never left and each time I look at this photo I shake my head because of the disregard that person had for wildlife. This event took place in a nature reserve and this sort of scenario takes place far too often because of a lack of ethics.
