Vermillion Lakes, and Rundle Mountain
Last month was my first time on skates since I was about 12 years old. It was the first big freeze we have had here in Banff, and the lake was finally frozen enough to skate on. I can't think of a better place to relearn how to skate. I was sure that I wipe out every five minutes, but it was surprisingly easy to stay on my feet.
This was a great day! We started the morning off with some Baylies and coffee as our new (Salvation Army) skates were being sharpened, and then walked down the train tracks to the lakes. This was the day of the Grey Cup, so when we got back to town, we went to the Elk&Oarsman to watch the game. Even though it was the world's most embarrassing way to lose for the poor Roughriders, it was still a fantastic game.
Days like that one remind me why it is that I love this town so much.
