Above The Valley

The view of the southern end of the valley from Dantes View. 6433 elevation. Directly below us is Badwater Basin. The mountain peak covered in snow is Telescope Peak @ 11,049 feet above sea level. At the base of the mountains are alluvial fans, deposits of material eroded from the mountains. They are huge, the change of elevation from the base of a fan up to the base of the mountain can be 1000 feet or more and many of them are made up mostly of rocks, not soil.
