John Ellis says: Despite the fact that gestures as such are not a strong feature, I think that the use of the bodies in motion in a pattern, with geometry delineated by layers, makes this a strong player in the pool. A carefully observed shot.

John Ellis says: Perhaps not perfectly balanced as a composition. Nonetheless, the use of the man on the right as foreground to the players beyond is effective. The small workout session on the basketball court enables some well-caught instances of gesture.

John Ellis says: This is an eerily effective shot, with the background of the stone structure that looks somewhat gothic. The distortion of the man's arm is clearly something that is going to puzzle any viewer and the figure '18' is given a probably undeserved prominence as a result of the hand groping towards it.

John Ellis says: Nominally, this is just a crowd scene. However, the mix of gender, race and nationality is very well caught with almost everyone in a crowded shot contributing something, particularly gesture.
