John Ellis says: In this shot several things add to the reflection of another (smart) parked car: the paving stones that help give a subtle monochromatic colour scheme but, more strikingly, the shadow of a shark cruising below the surface.

John Ellis says: There were some entries that used the car in its environment rather than creating images within its frame, but none matched the very effective combination shown here. It is not ideal because of the burned out elements in the sky but the prevailing blue palette and the montaged shape of the speeding car make it reasonably easy to discount the imperfection.

John Ellis says: This is definitely in the aesthetic camp. Because the photographer is rendered anonymous by being in total shadow, the whole shot revolves round the richness of the black and gold being set off by the red of the cap.
